From Dillon Health Core Values Presentation EOS Vision Day 2 – Team and Clients – November 15, 2022
Our core values speech is vital to drive our decisions and direction. We must share it with our clients and employees. Talking about the values we believe in when recruiting new people is essential. They need to embrace our values.
Challenge yourself and the organization to follow these values.
In 2010, President Obama passed the Affordable Care Act, which wasn’t implemented until 2014. This law upended the industry, and healthcare/health insurance is always a top 3 topic in every election cycle.
My point in discussing the history of the ACA or Obamacare is that this is at the root of why I decided to leave an excellent profession and jump headfirst into an industry that everyone was leaving or just trying to hang on to. We did the opposite of the trend and went all in on health insurance.
Every year, the projections on what people thought would happen didn’t happen, and the direction of the health insurance market year after year has been different—this history and Dillon Health’s ability to be agile drive our core values.
Value 1. Determination – Tenacious – Driven – Fearless
Taking personal responsibility is at our core to making things happen somehow and somehow. Be resourceful, show initiative, and don’t make excuses. Take ownership to deliver results.
Value 2. Innovative – Disruptor of the Status Quo
The entrepreneurial spirit is central to who we are and what we do at Dillon Health and separates us from our competitors. We thrive when we challenge the status quo. We love building programs and tearing apart the current system so we can rebuild them better. To us, problems are opportunities, all issues are solvable, and we can create exceptional solutions with the right trigger.
Value 3. Team Mentality
To help first is a must by offering, teaching, and showing, not judging or blaming. We work to make sure, when helping first, to solve the problem immediately at hand and then work to find the root of the issue to solve the problem. We are willing to step into another role or help a team member. Be ready to get your hands dirty, hustle, and be politely persistent when needed. Be a creative problem solver. Share your knowledge. We win and lose as a team and function across groups to drive client success and satisfaction. Collaboration generates better ideas and solutions than working alone.
Value 4. Lifelong Learning
We are lifelong learners, self-improvers, and have a growth mindset. We must constantly aspire to improve ourselves professionally and personally—a thirst to search far and wide for proven methods, processes, models, and tools. We must learn from others. We are perfecting our skills by continuing education through insurance carriers, reading articles, and seeking out information to keep current and in the know.
Value 5. Good Communication – Speak with Intent
Be reflective and open to accepting honest and direct feedback even when it conflicts with your perception. Always be available to hear something new and look at the other side of the coin when given input or advice. Speak with Intent. Words have power. Speak deliberately and with clear intentions that move the action forward. Say what you mean, and be willing to share ideas or raise issues that may cause conflict when necessary for company success.
Value 6. Professionalism – Treat all with Respect
Do things better every day and look for ways to improve. Take pride in your appearance, how you communicate, and your skills. Be present and engaged, and give others your undivided attention. Above all, listen to understand the problem before defining the solution thoroughly.
Value 7. Do the Right Thing Always – Integrity
Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to doing the right thing in every action and decision, even when no one is looking. Deliver on your promises every time. Please do what you say you will do.
